College is one of the most exhilarating as well as one of the more overwhelming times of your life. If youre a freshman, youve left home for the first time–youre learning to live on your own and youre meeting new people every day. There are a few basic college supplies you need to get so you can get the most out of the experience. One major tip is to buy your supplies online. This doesnt apply only to books, but to all supplies. Youll cut down on time shopping for supplies, and if you buy all the items from one source you can save money on both shipping and the cost of the items themselves.
College Supply Checklists
Heres a list of college supplies that some new students might overlook. You should budget money for telephone hook-up, internet hook-up and student parking. These days, it is a good idea for college students to get a cellphone–its cheaper than standard telephone service. Also wireless internet makes it much easier to hook-up to the internet in a dorm room.
Some other costs: groceries, and outside activities. Obviously, outside activities are going to be limited somewhat, but a student should not be completely confined by a campus. Buying groceries and making your own food can be a lot cheaper than being on a meal plan. However, the cafeteria setting is a great way to meet people which is very important for a new student.
